A Bat Mitzvah – Pretty in Pink.

It was a wonderful experience planning the Bat Mitzvah of my niece, Lori. Not only did I have creative license but I also was able to celebrate with my family and truly enjoy the festivities.

A beautiful candle lighting ceremony took place at the Chabad in Boca Raton followed by a dinner.  A gold urn filled with  jewel tone flowers was set at the entrance with place cards in pink with a gold motif .

The dinner tables were covered in pink bengaline with silver chivari chairs. The centerpiece consisted  of gerber daisies and herb plants set on a bed of green moss . The school at the Chabad have a herb garden cultivated by the children. All the herbs in the centerpieces were donated to the garden.What a fabulous Mitzvah Project.

And now the PARTY.  The  celebration continued the following day at the Old Course at Broken Sound Country Club in Boca Raton.

Lori , did not want a specific theme but rather a colorful and happy space for all to enjoy. The inspiration for the decor was a beautiful candy striped linen from BBJ linen which was used on all the tables. The color palette was pink, yellow and mint green.

The adults were seated at Royal tables. The florals were an eclectic arrangement of different size glass containers with colored wire intertwined with tight bunches of roses. The place settings were complete with a personalized place cards for each guest, glass beaded charger plate and a napkin held with an acrylic napkin ring.

Seating for the children consisted of couches, ottoman’s and high cocktail tables with stools covered in white spandex.

Thank you to Lorant Botha , catering manager at Broken Sound for his creative talent in menu selection. Paper cone’s filled with miniature grilled cheese triangles and a painted dessert plate  “especially ” for Lori were a few of the interesting and delicious items served.

The best part of the evening was watching  Lori enjoying every minute of her party . Here she is dancing with James from DJM Entertainment.

Saint Andrews School Auction celebrates Mardi Gras

Last weekend , as a parent and an event planner I was proud to be a part of the Saint Andrews School Auction in Boca Raton. The theme this year was Mardi Gras,  perfectly timed with Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans. With the traditional color palette of gold, purple and green coupled with outrageous Mardi Gras masks and decor the scene was set for a fabulous evening. The decor was provided by Party Perfect of Boca Raton.

The entrance was decorated with lamposts with street signs, trees and a grand mask with roses in jewel tones.

The gymnasium was transformed with oversized masks  decorated  with an abundance of feathers in different colors. Each mask marked the various categories of auction items for the silent auction. The linens for the cocktail tables were a multi color shag which were festive bringing together all the jewel tone colors of Mardi Gras.

Floral arrangements of green and purple hydrangeas with peacock feathers and beads dressed the cocktail tables. Beads were everywhere….

An ice sculpture lit in mardi gras colors was used for the seafood station. Our in house caterers, Sage Dining created a true New Orleans menu for our guests.

 

 

After the silent auction, the guest moved into a second gymnasium for the after party . Guests were entertained by the Dereck Mack Band, Spencer from A Hot Party provided the casino tables and entertained the guests .The gym was transformed with illuminating lighting created by  SFL Lighting Company creating a party atmosphere.

The gals who put it all together, Laurie Woliung, Karen Jacobsen, Cheryl Cherney and myself . What a team , who together with Kristen Oliver , Auction Coordinator at Saint Andrew’s planned a successful event for our school and had fun at the same time.
