Palm Beach Brides – An Idea Show

I will be attending the Palm Beach Bridal Show taking place on September 25th at the Palm Beach Convention. It was fabulous event last year and I networked with great vendors up in the West Palm Beach area. Brides can meet with over 100 vendors including caterers, preview ceremony and reception locations, review centerpieces, sample cakes and more. In one day, they’ll be able to check virtually everything off their must do/must see list.

Wedding Day “Survival” Kit for Brides

Everything is going to be perfect on my wedding day! Yes, that is what all brides think, but you never know when an earring backing may fall off or a piece of hair springs free from your bobby pins! Most event planners will bring an emergency wedding kit with them, but if not  your maid/matron of honor should take over this responsibility. Your kit should be everywhere with you, the ceremony, the reception, and any off site photo locations that you are going to. Here are Emily’s suggestions for an emergency wedding kit so that you have peace of mind on your big day:

  • Travel size mirror
  • Travel size hair spray
  • Travel size deodorant and perfume
  • Tissues
  • Manicure kit (nail clippers, file, tweezers, scissors)
  • Breath mints and/or travel size mouthwash
  • Basic sewing kit (safety pins, scissors, sewing tape, needle and thread)
  • Stain remover
  • Makeup and Makeup remover
  • Pain relief tablets
  • Eye drops and cough drop
  • Earring backs and an extra pair of earrings
  • Band-aids and small bandage
  • Vanity kit (cotton balls, nail file)
  •
Clear nail polish (prevents stocking runs and ladders)
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Super glue
  • Sun cream and unscented insect repellent
  • Flat shoes in case your wedding shoes become painful later in the day
  • Hair brush , Hair bands and Bobby Pins

  • Extra pair of stocking is wearing them
  • Phone number list  of wedding vendors
  • A copy of your wedding schedule
  • Extra pair of stockings if needed
  • Phone numbers of all wedding vendors

Along with the wedding emergency kit, the matron/maid of honor should have these items handy in a small handbag for the bride throughout the reception in a safe but easy-to-access place during the dinner and/or reception.

  • Perfume
  • Tampons
  • Nail File
  • Hair Spray
  • Cash
  • Comb/brush
  • Cell phone
  • Breath mints

And just for fun……

A Wedding Celebration with a Twist of Lime.

The most extraordinary wedding celebration I had the pleasure of working  on was Lauren and Matt’s wedding held in Boca Raton, Florida . Donna, the brides mother wanted to have a “party” to celebrate her daughters wedding. Out with the traditional wedding and in with a relaxed, casual celebration with a taste of the Florida Keys.

Donna, selected a simple , elegant letterpress invitation from Elum Designs . The invitation true to our theme was titled “Palm” and featured a palm motif in sage ink.

The couple had a intimate private ceremony for close friends and family. The chuppah captured the essence of  the Jewish tradition with a  canopy consisting of a beautifully embroidered talit, stretched  over four poles which were held  by honored guests.

First Look!

Just loved this picture, the bride carried a bouquet of loosely arranged white rose’s, mini callas and green hydrangea.

The guests were greeted with a place card table arrangement with multiple vases filled with lemons and assorted colorful orchids and mini mango callas.

Behind the scene the floral arrangements were being made on site by Xquisite events led by designer Jon Buick . The floral arrangements featured masses of Morcoro and Oncidium orchids grouped together in skinny glass vases.

The room layout was designed using  royal tables that were joined together and  placed on either side of the dance floor. The tables were covered with  royal blue and green custom floor length linens from Nuage Designs. The bamboo  folding chairs completed the look. The orchid centerpieces ran across the tables joined together with flexi grass  and tailored with  orchid heads.  A lounge was created across from the band for guests to relax . The ceiling above the dance floor was filled with paper lanterns .

The guests were entertained in by Jimmy Stowe and the Stowaways , a  Jimmy Buffet tribute band.

The guest’s departed with a  “mint mojito ” flavored candle. This was a truly original . Thank you to Donna, the brides mom for her inspiration and giving us the flexibility to create a beautiful wedding in true ” Florida” style.
